Havana

Cuba's capital, Havana, is a vibrant city filled with iconic sights, bursting with character, and a strong sense of identity, highlighting its unique history. Colourful buildings with crumbling facades reflect an eclectic mix of Baroque, Neo-classical and Art Deco architecture that edge cobbled streets where local musicians fill the air with a variety of music on every street corner.

The city also offers several museums and galleries, and its dynamic music and dance scenes can be enjoyed in numerous bars, clubs, and other venues. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is not hard to see why, the old part of Havana offers a picture postcard picture photo opportunity at every turn, Cadillacs with rusting bodywork drive slowly past street vendors selling their wares from hand carts, and ladies dressed in national costumes pose for photos with the tourists against a backdrop of pastel-coloured colonial mansions.

Discover the "Malecon", the seawall that stretches the length of the city, where locals mingle, to catch the cool sea breeze, play instruments, catch up on the day's gossip or snatch a few precious moments with a loved one.

Dine at one of the "paladares" or privately owned restaurants that can be found across the city, where standards of cuisine have been increasing at the hands of these new chefs that are bringing their own twist to typically Cuban fayre.

Or dance the night away at the world-famous Tropicana Cabaret show, where feathers in the hair and spangly costumes are the dress code of the day.
